Lately, I have been going to more African influenced events and bumping into old friends/high school classmates. I met with one of them, Jonathan G., who has grown into a business man. Eight years ago I wouldn’t picture him in the fashion industry…he was much more a professional basketball player type of guy! When he told me about Noëh Homme, his handmade menswear accessories with Annamieke M., I didn’t fully take him seriously. Then I witnessed his team put together a fashion show! WOW! His show had live performances and my favourite: a speeder paint. That was amazing!
While I was observing and capturing the moments, I was also drawn to put my camera down and touch each of the beautiful bow ties displayed for sale. I liked how they had unique patterns and a mixture of jewelry onto the bows. Personally I haven’t seen those kinds of ties before. Although they are marketed as men’s accessories, I could also see a female singer like Janelle Monae wearing some of them! For myself and some guests, it was also our first opportunity to attend the Muttart Conservatory. It’s a beautiful tourism venue within the Edmonton city. I was amazed by the event location immediately when we were invited to tour inside the 3 glass pyramids of tropical, temperate & arid biomes; gardens full of beautiful plants in each pyramid. While exploring in the first pyramid, and after saying “Hi” to a person without a reply, it took me few minutes to realize that they were models standing in each corner instructed to be immobile. It was funny to see some guests trying to make them laugh as the models kept statuesque composure. I swear, it was challenging to even see their eyes blink haha!! You will see in the video below.
Overall the event was great and I’m looking forward for Noëh Homme‘s future projects. Hopefully they will also have a Noëh Femme accessories hahah! Thank you for inviting me to experience such a unique and wonderful event Johnathan G.!
Below is a video and more guests pictures. Congrats to those who won prizes!!
