Since the Afrofest Promo Video Shoot, I was in excitement to attend the actual Festival.
At one point, the conversations, singing, dancing, and bumping into old friends/high school classmates got me lost in the festivities. I forgot that I was also there to take pictures and videos for the blog hahah
Unfortunately I couldn’t divide myself to see everything, there was a variety of activities happening at once. I had to make a difficult choice on what to specifically record, it all seemed nice and amazing! Sadly, I missed the parade and my cultural performances from Congo and Rwanda, shame on me hahah, but at least I got to enjoy the live performances, shopping, african dishes and of course my favorite, fashion runways. I remember a young man approached me with nice compliments and then he added “It’s too much for me, all these beautiful women, it’s hard to choose” haha. Later on, my attention was caught by a gorgeous young woman with her natural hair, who also added ”I didn’t know there was that many handsome african guys in Edmonton.” Ooh lawd haha. Myself I didn’t know there were so many local talented individuals. I like the fact that the event was outdoors which it made easier to converse with them right after their performances.
Overall I had a good time at this festival but I wish it was more than a two day event. Found it beautiful and uplifting to be in a place that brought together all of Africa under one umbrella. I can’t wait for the second AfroFest!
